Peer Accountability
High Performing Teams are based on high peer to peer accountability... some might describe it as the positive use of peer pressure.
Obviously for an individual to confidently and effectively hold a teammate accountable, to call them out on something or to have that difficult conversation with then, one needs to possess a certain set of behavioural and interpersonal skills. Two other essentials are:
Trust - they trust that you mean well, that you have good intentions
Clear expectations - a previous agreement has been made and is easy to refer to when this has not been honoured
Its easier to call someone out or challenge them when previous agreements have been made between you. This is the real power of having standards in place and something comparable to a Team Charter.
